Neurodiversity Therapy & Counselling Services in Ireland

It is estimated that 15-20% of the world’s population is neurodivergent, encompassing a range of neurological variations including ADHD, the autism spectrum, dyspraxia and dyslexia. These variations are to be embraced, and neurodiversity therapy seeks to empower these individuals while assisting with their needs.

Types of Therapy Offered

There are a variety of therapy methods available for helping neurodiverse clients. Some of these include:

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

Neurodiversity-affirming therapy takes the view that neurological differences are natural variations rather than defects to be “fixed” (This is in contrast to traditional therapy, which often tends to focus more on helping the client eliminate what some perceive as problematic behaviours and prioritises equipping the client to ‘fit in’ with neurotypical behaviour patterns).

Neurodiversity-Affirming therapy focuses on helping the person understand and work with their brain, rather than against it and priortises the client’s comfort, values, communication style, and autonomy.
